Medical Laboratory Technician

This degree program prepares graduates for entry-level positions in the growing field of clinical laboratory work. Medical laboratory technicians perform routine medical laboratory tests for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease.

As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you’re a valued member of the health care team who provides clinical information for disease prevention, medical diagnosis, and treatment of patients by processing specimens and performing laboratory tests.
Working primarily behind the scenes, you will have a positive impact on patients’ lives as a Medical Laboratory Technician. Core classes in this program study human diseases and laboratory tests that identify them. Students learn to operate equipment in medical laboratories and perform a wide range of procedures. The MLT program prepares you to assume responsibility in various laboratory settings, medical or non-medical, clinical diagnostic or research, hospital or reference laboratories.
